Chiropractic Athletic Evaluation

Dr. Bussenger graduated in 1981 from Central Michigan University with a B. S. Degree and in 1985 from Palmer College of Chiropractic. Dr. Bussenger has obtained the postgraduate designation of Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician by the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians. This instruction is specific to physical fitness and the evaluation and treatment of injuries encountered in sports. Dr. Bussenger began private practice in 1986 in Chicago, IL.

Dr. Bussenger currently treats several area professional and amateur athletes as well as high school and pee wee athletes. Dr. Bussenger has 4 boys who all play competitive basketball, soccer, baseball, and motocross. He has taken hundreds of hours in post graduate training on sports injuries and increased athletic performance though spinal and extremity joint balance.

More and more kids are competing in athletics at an earlier age, and it is getting more competitive. The stress these young athletes place on their spines and extremity joints can cause injury that decreases their performance and can lead to chronic sports injuries in the future. The key to athletic performance is in balanced, fluid, pain-free joint motion. Impaired joint function leads to reduced range of motion, inflammation, and scar tissue. Traditional treatment of these problems involves splinting the joint to reduce movement, pain medications, muscle relaxers, steroid injections, and even surgery.

Today a more common sense approach is being taken. Dr. Bussenger offers joint mobilization, like chiropractic care of the spine, to care for the elbows, wrists, knees, ankles and other joints of the body. By restoring normal range of motion to the spine and extremity joints (that have become "locked up", "jammed", or injured), it improves blood circulation, reduces scar tissue, and maximizes the body's healing process.

The benefit to the athlete is an increase in athletic performance, a healthier athletic future, and an improved competitive edge. Increase your athlete's strength, speed, agility, and endurance with a chiropractic athletic evaluation.
